SO I was rambling with @princesscas about all the shit the boys haven’t told Mary yet (like selling their souls, being a demon/soulless, etc) and then I realized.
The Campbell line is a Lucifer’s vessel line.
Mary is a Campbell.
Lucifer is looking for a vessel.
GUYS.
YOU SEE WHERE I’M GOING WITH THIS RIGHT.
KAITLYN JUST CALLED THE PLOT OF S12 AND IM IN SHOCK, COME DIE WITH MY FRIENDS
Um…I’m pretty sure it’s the Winchester bloodline. It’s why Michael is able to be in John Winchester vessel and Adam Milligan’s vessel. I’m sorry but I think that part is incorrect.
Yeah. The Winchesters were Michael’s bloodline, and the the Campbells were Lucifer’s bloodline. I’m 99% sure that’s how it went. @babybrotherdean you probably know off the top of your head.
Oh! That is very interesting!! Yes Ally! Please bring in your genius!
I was actually talking about this with @womanoflettersinthebunker the other day, but off the top of my head, I’m pretty sure it’s just a fanon/interpretation of what canon tries to imply. Cupid mentions in season five that John and Mary needed to get together for the whole plan to come to pass, which does suggest that their bloodlines, specifically, were the important ones, and like you guys mentioned, we know that John and Adam were both valid vessels for Michael… what I don’t think is explicitly mentioned in canon, though, is where Lucifer fits into it. Obviously Lucifer never tries to possess Adam or John (or anyone, really, besides Nick and Sam- not counting more recent seasons), and he seems a lot pickier about the whole “true vessel” thing than Michael ever was.
I definitely subscribe to the Campbell/Winchester thing being a Lucifer/Michael thing as a headcanon, but I don’t think that it’s an explicitly stated canon fact. It definitely makes sense in canon context, and there’s nothing in canon that directly opposes it, so…
Basically: I don’t think it’s textual canon, but it’s very heavily implied and easy to read that interpretation based on what we do have as canon.
On that note, though: please keep Lucifer as far as fucking possible away from both Sam and Mary Winchester, thanks.
(What’s interesting on that train of thought, also, is the suggestion that both Sam and Dean could have, potentially, housed Michael or Lucifer, since they’ve both got Winchester and Campbell blood in them. Obvious it goes against the whole destiny thing, but- just a neat thing to consider?)
Also, this may not have any validity to the debate on Mary being Lucifer’s vessel but in the show, it’s specifically said the Lucifer created the Mark of Cain and Cain being a direct descendent of the Winchester’s. And there bloodline being the bases for them being true vessels. I just wonder how the writers are going to bring back mythology arch into this season revolving around the Winchester’s and Campbell’s.
